Overview
Preview for NDI receives video and audio from an accessible NDI sender. The Windows interface is in English. Earlier releases and screenshots use the name NDI Preview.
Basic configuration
- Start an NDI sender on your local network, such as USB Cam for NDI.
- In Basic, select the discovered source and click Connect.
- Confirm video, input audio levels, resolution, and connection status.
- Open Monitor to inspect received frame counters, bytes, drops, and AVSync status.
If a source disappears, the receiver waits for that source to return. Discovery depends on your network configuration. The application does not change firewall permissions automatically.
Main operations
Audio provides separate volume (0–200%), mute, and delay (0–1000 ms) for the first two playback channels. Playback requires a working Windows audio output.
In Rec, choose a folder and a date/time or custom MP4 name, then enable recording. Existing files are not overwritten. Recording uses received audio independently of playback volume, mute, and delay. Changes to the input video size or audio format stop recording with an error.
Viewing and settings
Use NDI → Save PNG to save a received frame. Press F11 for full screen and Esc to return. System → HIDE UI provides a compact video-only window; restore the controls with Esc or the right-click menu.
Settings can be reset, imported, or exported. Auto Start reconnects to the saved source at launch. Up to 16 instances can retain separate settings.
The displayed bitrate measures decoded data, not network bandwidth. AVSync is a timestamp indicator, not a measurement of physical speaker/display synchronization.

Key features
See the feature table above for the functions included in this application.
Installation
Install the application from its Microsoft Store link. The NDI runtime is included.
System requirements
Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, on x64. Provide an accessible local network and a compatible NDI peer.
Checks before use
Start with a short test signal. Confirm both video and audio levels before using a live source or relying on a recording.
Troubleshooting
If a source is missing, check that the sender is running and reachable on the network. If audio is silent, verify the selected microphone at the sender and check mute, gain, and the Windows playback device.
